The Village of Saugerties public water system is supplied by a wellhead and transmission lines originating at the Blue Mountain Reservoir. As part of the Winston Farm development, the owners have agreed to work with the Village to provide a second and redundant source of potable water to feed the public system.
A new wellhead, water treatment facility and distribution lines will be constructed on the Winston Farm property as part of the Master Plan. This multi-million-dollar infrastructure improvement will not only provide a much-needed secondary source for the village, but also will provide potable water to uses within the Winston Farm project, thus making them shovel-ready.
The development also includes construction of a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) at the northern limits of the parcel, adjacent to the onsite tributary. Currently, the Town of Saugerties WWTP and conveyance system has limited capacity and is not able to support large-scale development. As a result, the Winston Farm WWTP will be designed to provide sewer to the various uses proposed. The system has been configured to provide additional capacity so users beyond the Winston Farm property to the north and west have the opportunity to connect their parcels, fostering additional development opportunities. Vacant and underutilized properties along the west side of Interstate 87 will gain the ability to connect to a sewer system to support development and redevelopment efforts not currently possible.
