The Winston Farm site is best known for hosting the Woodstock ’94 music festival, held in August 1994 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the original historic music festival that attracted more than 500,000 fans.
Over the decades, numerous development options were proposed for Winston Farm, including a community college, casino, landfill/incinerator (1987) and a high-tech park (2009). None reached reality.
Ulster County originally identified Winston Farm’s development potential and completed a study detailing possibilities. The pending application to create a Planned Development District advances those objectives.
In addition, the Town and Village of Saugerties’ Comprehensive Plan specifically recommends a Planned Development District for Winston Farm.
